Open in Google Sheets opens the file in a new tab. Edit here shows the same editor inside this page. Apply reads the sheet and shows every change before anything is written. Fill with machine translation drafts the empty cells in the sheet (Pro and Pro+). Insert GOOGLETRANSLATE puts a formula into the empty plain-text cells; Google fills them, descriptions with HTML are left out. Products CSV, Options CSV and the others give one tab each as a file (Pro and Pro+). Back to before puts the translations of the sheet back to the snapshot taken at the export, after a preview. Archive takes the sheet off this list and gives its place on your plan back; the file stays in your Drive.
Written are the translations that reached Shopify. Skipped are translations left alone: changed in Shopify after the preview, or their source text changed. Failed are translations Shopify refused; Values names the reason. Undo all is offered while nothing of the same resources was put back later; open Values to undo one language. An Undo is itself in the list and can be undone. Restored means a later Undo already put this one back.
With Reports on, a recipient gets the report of every apply — applied, skipped, failed — with the Undo link, and a note when Google is disconnected and the statuses could not be written back to a sheet. Messages carry the sheet name, product names and the values that changed; nothing about your customers.
/invite @njX Translations in Sheets & Undo in that channel, then Refresh list.Only the files it created. The permission is drive.file: Google lets the app open the sheets it made for you and nothing else — not your other sheets, documents or folders. Disconnect on Home deletes our key to your Google account; the sheets stay in your Drive.
Yes. We read the value a cell shows, so a formula like =GOOGLETRANSLATE(E3, "en", "de") applies as the text it gives. Insert GOOGLETRANSLATE on Sheets puts such formulas into the empty plain-text cells for you; descriptions with HTML are left out, so their tags stay whole.
A blank cell means no change. To remove a translation, type CLEAR in the cell. A row you delete is no change. A row without a resource id is skipped with a reason: this version does not create products or pages.
It drafts the empty cells of a sheet (and, if you ask, the outdated ones) into the sheet itself, not into your store: each filled cell gets a note and a blue background, and you read it before Apply. Descriptions are translated text by text, with the HTML tags kept as they were. Terms in the hidden _glossary tab, the vendor and the SKU are kept as they are. Pro has 300,000 characters a month, Pro+ 2,000,000 and 200,000 Premium (Google), counted in characters of the source text.
The translations that apply wrote, nothing else: each goes back to what it was right before the apply — all languages, or one. A source text changed in Shopify since is shown in the Undo preview first; the old translation still goes back, and Shopify marks it outdated. Back to before on a sheet goes further: its translations return to the snapshot taken at the export, whatever was applied since.
24 hours. If the sheet is edited after the preview, Apply asks for a fresh preview first, so only what you saw is written. A translation that moved in Shopify after the preview is left alone and named in the report.
Rows worth a second look. Yellow: the translation is the same as the source (not translated yet?), it changed in Shopify since the export, or tags were taken out of a plain-text field. Red: the HTML tags of a description differ from the source — a lost </p> or link. Red rows apply only when you tick Apply anyway; otherwise fix them in the sheet and preview again.
When the text in your main language changed after the export, its translation in the sheet was made for the old text: the preview skips that row with «source changed since the export — re-export this row». Export again to get the new source.
Some browsers, Safari among them, ask Google for permission to use its cookies inside another page. Open the sheet in a new tab once, then come back: Edit here usually works from then on. Or switch on Always open sheets in a new tab on Sheets.
Everything about your store is deleted from our side as soon as Shopify tells us, the key to your Google account included. Your sheets stay in your Drive, and nothing is written to your store on uninstall.
